‘Oorsprong’ (which means ‘Origin’) is an electronic piece rather poetic in style. It strives to sing it’s way through a sonic space that harbours narrow icy caves as well as vast clouds of burning gasses. In this way it attempts to articulate an ongoing and resonating transition between closeness and remoteness, and between static isolation and dynamic expansion.
Various recorded as well as synthesized sounds were subjected to a variety of spectral transformations and were cross synthesized, using the KYMA/Capybara system and various other sound processing software. In overall construction, the ratio 7:4 was used to divide time spans.
‘Oorsprong’ was completed in 2004, in the composer’s studio. It was commissioned by NFPK+, The Netherlands.
